Food Composition
The Portuguese Food Composition Database is a national reference document for the composition of foods consumed in Portugal. Includes information about 42 nutrients (Energy, Macronutrients, Fatty Acids, Vitamins and Minerals).
The current version of Portuguese Food Composition Database, used FoodCASE software which uses Euro FIR method for the calculation of nutrients in recipes. Energy values were calculated according Regulation (EU) N.º 1169/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2011. The salt values also presented, were calculated according the same Regulation (salt = sodium x 2.5).
There is also available, for some foods, food Industry data (soon available). This information is Industry responsibility.
The calculator allows to calculate the nutritional value of a meal by choosing the foods from the list of ingredients and its amounts, preparation methods and retention factors. The nutritional value is presented for the number of portions of the recipe.

Search and Compare Foods
Food search is possible by keyword, Food group, Nutrients, Alphabetical, FoodEX2 and Langual. It is also available an advanced search.

Nutrient Intake Calculator
